Emotional Wellness with Essential Oils

Did you know that essential oils are great for helping us navigate through our feelings? By simply smelling certain oils we can change our mood and emotions! In this class, we will cover each emotion and which oils you can use (and how you can use them) to benefit and balance your mindset. You will be provided with samples to bring home for personal use at the end of class.

Katie Deabler has been a wellness advocate for 4 years. She specializes in natural living with the use of essential oils. She makes her own household cleaners, candles, and skincare line from natural ingredients.

Gluten free living can be a challenge. But with a little guidance, the gluten free world can be easy to negotiate. Together we will prepare and share a delicious 4-course gluten free meal. We will discuss everyday items that contain gluten and ingredients that can be substituted for gluten.

Chef Mikael Andersson grew up in Sweden. After culinary school, he was a private chef to several ambassadors in Europe and South America. He worked in some of the best restaurants in New York City as a pastry chef. He was Executive Chef at Colby College. Currently, he lives in Wiscasset with his family and is Executive Chef at Lincoln Academy.

 

Grow Your Own Organic Garden

Interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner?

Join us for an evening-long workshop on how to grow your own garden organically. We’ll talk about the basics of soil science and how to enrich your soil to produce healthy, high-yielding plants. The course will also cover the fundamentals of making and using compost, the principles of crop rotation and how to incorporate green manures to manage nutrients in the garden. Other topics will include how to tell the difference between cultivated plants and weeds, basic weed control strategies and cultural methods for dealing with pests.

The instructor will be an experienced farmer or gardener from your region. We will even send you home with free seeds! All are welcome, from first-timers to experienced gardeners who want to experiment with new techniques.

Healthy Lifestyle

This is a 6 week program for group Health Coaching. The first class we will review your personal health history privately. This will give the instructor a better understanding of your personal health goals and needs. Each week we will create a meal and discuss food related topics in order to help you make the best decisions when preparing food on your own at home. We will work together in interactive groups. We will cook four out of the six classes. Meals we will prepare include, Black Bean Enchilada Casserole and Chicken Veggie Casserole, along with other meals.

Household Cleaning Hacks with Essential Oils

The truth is many ingredients in the common household cleaning products we’ve grown to trust are harmful to our health. Most people aren’t aware of the hidden dangers these popular cleaning products present to ourselves, our families, and our pets.

In this class, we will learn about the top 10 most dangerous chemicals found in cleaning products and why to avoid them. We will learn DIY recipes on chemical-free cleaning using essential oils and other common ingredients found in the household. Every student will be given free samples of essential oil to try these chem-free cleaners at home!

Be ready to get hands on with DIY oil infused products each week to take home! Come to this fun, relaxed class and learn why essential oils are such a big deal!

Amber Beck is a work from home mom of two girls. Her journey with essential oils began six years ago as an effort to remove as many toxic products as possible from her home for a safe environment for her family.

Addie Joslyn is a stay at home mom of two boys. Her boys were the motivation to start living naturally and holistically by incorporating essential oils into daily life.

iPad Basics - February

In this class you will learn the basics of how to use your iPad. You may bring your iPad with you or you may just watch. The course instructor will demonstrate basic functions of your iPad. We will have time for questions at the end of the class.

Kayla Sikora is the director of the RSU 40 Adult Education progam. Kayla loves technology and wants to share her knowledge with the community.
