In the Know – In the Dough!

Who can resist the smell of fresh bread baking? In this one-night class we will learn how to mix, knead, proof and shape basic yeast dough. Participants will learn how to create cloverleaf rolls, butter crescents, cinnamon swirls, tea rings, whole-wheat and caramel pecan rolls as well as an economical savory braid that comes together quickly. You will learn what gluten is all about! Various yeast bread recipes will be shared and discussed. Each student will go home with a basket of yummy warm samples. All baking levels are welcome for this hands-on class. Bring an apron, rolling pin, cutting board and two plastic tubs to fill and take home. Take this class and then show your bread prowess at your holiday dinner this year!!

International Flatbreads

Indian Roti, Greek Pita, Navajo Frybread, Mexican Tortillas, and more! Come roll, press, and fold quick tasty flatbreads from around the world. You’ll get to taste the fresh breads along with their traditional toppings, fillings, and dips. Go a little wild and mix them up if you like!

Join Stonewall Kitchen cooking instructor, Chris Toy for an evening of Greek cooking. Juicy lamb kabobs with tzatziki sauce served over Maine saffron rice and accompanied with hot fresh pita bread and a hummus and olive spread. We’ll finish the evening with a creamy lemon-infused rizogalo rice pudding.

Medicare and Understanding It

This course will review the following areas: when you are eligible for Medicare benefits; the timeline to enroll for Medicare benefits without penalties; what original Medicare covers and does not cover; and what additional plans are available that work in conjunction with original Medicare. Financial assistance options will also be discussed briefly. Robert Harvey is a licensed Life and Health agent with offices in Brunswick and Scarborough Maine. He has been assisting clients with reviewing and enrolling in individual health insurance plans and transitioning on to Medicare coverage for the last 10 years.

Stuck in a Mac and Cheese rut? If so, you are in for a surprise in this one-night class where pasta is revealed as the star it can be! We will learn about and taste varieties of pasta and correct preparation. We will make Pasta Pancetta, Rotini with Toasted Walnut, Blue Cheese, and Chives, as well as easy Creamy Chicken and Broccoli Pesto Bow Ties. Pasta can be transformed into a quick and nutritious meal using much less sodium than commercial products. Bring containers to take home samples. Recipes and directions included for all dishes. Buon Appetito! Class size is limited.

Pie Plate and a Pie Bird (Nov 8th)

If you can roll a pie crust, you can make a great pie plate. In this one night class students will make a pie plate, decorate it and choose from several glazes to finish it. Participants will also create a cute pie bird to use to vent their pies! 

Router Basics (Nov)

The Router is the second most important power tool in any shop. It is also the most versatile. Learn the basic techniques of using this tool, some of the shop made jigs that make it do more, and what to look for when purchasing a router. No materials needed.

Scone Home – A Night of Scone Delights!

You do not need to be ET to make a wonderful scone! If you have had flat or tough and dry scones this might be just the class you have been waiting for. Debra will show you stepby-step how to make light and tender Chocolate Cherry Scones, Apricot Ginger Scones and Bacon, Cheddar, Chive Scones as well as classic Basic Scones. This class will be participatory and samples of all items will be tasted and the rest divided among the class. Soooo ...get a friend to sign up with you and enjoy the evening! Remember to bring a container to store all that you will take home as well as an apron. No experience necessary.
