with Katie Deabler

Calendar May 3, 2018 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

Chemicals are absorbed into the body through the skin. Putting on chemicals may actually be worse than eating them! Toxins that enter through the skin can enter the bloodstream and cause harm before they are filtered by the liver. With all the pollutants in the environment today, it is important that we use personal care products that are made from natural and healthy ingredients. This class will teach you step-by-step how to make your own health & beauty products from safe and natural ingredients. You will make sample products to bring home for yourself and your family.

Katie Deabler has been a wellness advocate for 4 years. She specializes in natural living with the use of essential oils. She makes her own household cleaners, candles, and skincare line from natural ingredients.

Proper Movement, Proper Alignment: Introduction to Japanese Movement Therapy and Structural Acupuncture - April

$24

with Tobey Williamson

Calendar Apr 24, 2018 at 6:30 pm, runs for 1 week

Sotai Ho is a movement therapy that uses simple movements and breath work to release muscular restrictions and bring the body back into alignment with its natural gravitational center. It was developed in Japan in the 1950’s by Dr. Keizo Hashimoto, M.D So means “to manipulate,” tai means “body,” and ho means “method.” You can heal yourself with Sotai Ho. Dr. Hashimoto found the easiest way to release restrictions in our soft tissue was to listen to the body’s own wisdom to avoid pain and move into the direction of ease. Movements and stretching seek to emulate our animal friends – stretching like a dog or cat might, looking for ways to move that make our body FEEL GOOD! And when this movement is coordinated with our breath, the body quickly adjusts and falls back into its natural aligned state. In this introductory class, we will work together to find the specific Sotai movements you can do at home. These exercises can help break old patterns and keep you in your body’s natural gravitational center. “To treat a patient for an illness without correcting distortion in their frame is like bailing water with a bottomless bucket.” – Dr. Keizo Hashimoto

Tobey Williamson is a licensed acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and owner of Good Hearth Eastern Medical Arts in Rockland, Maine. He apprenticed under Dr. Chieko Maekawa and studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Institute for Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Honolulu, Hawaii.
