CLC Adult Education and LincolnHealth co-sponsor a FREE 180-hour minimum Certified Nursing Assistant training course. This CNA program is open to all adults by application only. Successful graduates are eligible to work in many areas of the health care field. The September class is closed but a new class will be starting January, 2019. The course is open to all adults by application and interview process. Applications will be available in November. You may call LincolnHealth Education (563-4540) to have an application packet sent to you. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED/ HiSET in order to be considered for the course. *** CNA Paid Apprenticeship Program *** (Subject to availability) “Earn while you Learn” LincolnHealth/CLC Adult Education and Midcoast School of Technology are offering an “Earn while you Learn” opportunity. Through a paid apprentice program, you can earn money for your CNA training with an expected commitment to work in a Long Term Care setting for 18 months. An application and interview are required to be considered for this program. A limited number of applicants are accepted. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and to hear examples of demos recorded by professional voice actors. Class participants will even have a chance to record a commercial script under the direction of a real producer! This class is informative, lots of fun, and a great first step for anyone interested in voice acting professionally

Each year an estimated 166,000 lives are claimed by sudden cardiac arrest. That is about 455 people each day. Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after a sudden cardiac arrest, can double or even triple a victim’s chance of survival. Almost 80 percent of cardiac arrests occur at home and are witnessed by a family member. This course will cover basic adult, child and infant CPR skills as well AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) training for the lay person and non-healthcare worker who needs CPR certification. It includes receipt of an American Heart Association Heartsaver Course Completion Card. Learn CPR today – the life you save could be that of your own loved one!

Sharpening Woodworking Tools (Monday Oct-Nov)

The first thing to learn about woodworking is sharpening the tools you will be using. In this course you will learn to sharpen bench chisels, plane irons, card scrapers, cabinet scrapers and marking knives. We will be using a grinder, a burnisher and water stones to put a razor edge on your tools. Bring in your grandad’s old plane or chisel or a new tool. They will all need sharpening.

Table Saw Basics (Nov)

The table saw is the most important tool in the shop. It does more than just cut wood to exact dimensions; it also does joinery, molding, and with a few simple jigs that you can make, it will also do specialty cuts. Learn how to get the most from your saw, how to use it safely, and what to look for when purchasing a saw. The course will be taught using the amazing new SAWSTOP, the saw with the built-in brake system that prevents injury from a spinning blade. No materials needed. 

Woodworking Unplugged

Calendar Oct 27, 2018 at 9 am, runs for 3 weeks

This class is for beginning and more advanced woodworkers. We will build a small, useful piece of furniture using only hand tools. You will learn basic joinery and use hand saws, hand planes, marking knives, chisels and scrapers. On completion you will have a project to take home and brag about. All tools provided. There will be a $20 materials fee payable to the instructor.
