Beginners Potter Class – Glazing

Calendar May 9, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 3 weeks

This class will be for finishing and glazing the pots made in the creating class or a prior class. You will receive glazes and creative tips on how to finish your pots.  A materials fee of $30 is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Bridgette Kinney has been a potter for 18 years and is the owner and operator of Dragon’s Breath Pottery in Warren. 

Beginners Pottery Class – Creating

Calendar Mar 21, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 5 weeks

An introductory class, for creating pots on the wheel or by hand. Students receive 25 lbs of a high stoneware clay to create with. A materials fee of $30 is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Beginning Italian

Calendar May 1, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Focus will begin with pronunciation, grammar, common expressions and idioms. Practice at ordering at a restaurant and everyday conversation about shopping, cooking, work and travel will follow.  Repetition and role-playing in conversation brings to life the structured information of the book--Learn Italian the Fast & Fun Way, by Marcel Danesi (3rd Edition preferred, but not necessary).

Vincent Carducci has studied in Rome, taken three extended trips to Italy as a working artist, and led Italian classes in Pennsylvania and Maine. 

Boston Flower Show

“Spring is in the Air” and there is no better place to see and smell the coming of spring than at the 2019 Boston Flower Show, Seaport World Trade Center, Boston, MA. The theme of this year’s show, “Beauty of Balance,” will be beautifully illustrated by colorful, inspiring and motivating displays of life-size gardens, vibrant floral designs, and the newest trends in gardening. Join us on a charter coach trip to the Boston Flower Show on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Time is allowed to view the show and if you wish, to also visit restaurants and shops in the area. The cost of this trip includes Charter Coach, Ticket to the Boston Flower Show, and driver gratuity. 8:00 AM Departure from Camden Hills Regional High School with additional stops at Medomak Valley High School, and Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta. Rest stops to / from Boston at Kennebunk rest area. Tour Leaders: Marlene Hall and Barbara Hendricks

Bring on the Berries

NOTE: Date and day have changed for this class from what was printed in our winter / spring brohcure. The new date is Monday, May 6. 

After a long winter who does not long for the color, scent and taste of fresh strawberries? In this three hour class we will make strawberry rhubarb muffins, a quick and wonderful strawberry salad, plus a luscious strawberry cake with butter cream frosting. You will be in the pink when you leave the class with plenty of samples. Class is a combination of demonstrations and participation. No experience necessary. Class size limited. Bring containers to take home baked goods.

Debra Arter has been teaching cooking classes to adults for nearly a decade. Her Home Ec. teacher mother instilled in her a love of creative and healthy food preparation. Her love of inspired community building through cooking events is contagious.

CLC Adult Education and LincolnHealth co-sponsor a FREE 180-hour minimum Certified Nursing Assistant training course. This CNA program is open to all adults by application only.  Successful graduates are eligible to work in many areas of the health care field. The January class is closed but a new class will be starting April, 2019. The course is open to all adults by application and interview process. Applications will be available in February / March. You may call LincolnHealth Education (563-4540) to have an application packet sent to you. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED/ HiSET in order to be considered for the course.

LincolnHealth/CLC Adult Education and Midcoast School of Technology are offering an “Earn while you Learn” opportunity.  Through a paid apprentice program, you can earn money for your CNA training with an expected  commitment to work in a Long Term Care setting for 18 months.

Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA) Certification Course

Calendar Apr 4, 2019 at 8:30 am, runs for 6 weeks

This is a 40-hour course designed to teach residential care workers to administer selected non-injectable medications in a Licensed Residential Care or Group Home setting.  The course provides the basic understanding necessary to administer medications safely and to document accurately.  Successful completion of this course satisfies departmental training requirements for workers who wish to pass medications in certain assisted housing programs.  There is some homework required with this course and students must attend all 40 hours (all six classes) in order to be certified. Minimum requirement of four students to run the class.

Students are responsible for arranging their own clinical experience necessary for certification. If you are not already affiliated with a licensed facility you will need to discuss arrangements with the Adult Ed director when you apply.   

There is a required application process for this course. The application must be completed and approved prior to registration. Payment plans and some fee reductions are available.  For more information or to obtain an application for the class, call Central Lincoln County Adult Education at 563-2811, or email clcae@aos93.org. Due to the required application process no on-line or phone registrations will be accepted.

Sally Larson is a Clinical Educator at Lincoln Healthcare and has been an RN for 40 years. Sally trained in England and has been practicing in the USA since 1980. She is an instructor in ACLS, PALS, and BLS.
