Table Saw Basics (Tuesday-April)

The table saw is the most important tool in theshop. It does more than just cut wood to exact dimensions; it also does joinery, molding, and with a few simple jigs that you can make, it will also do specialty cuts. Learn how to get the most from your saw, how to use it safely, and what to look for when purchasing a saw. The course will be taught using the amazing new SAWSTOP, the saw with the built-in brake system that prevents injury from a spinning blade. No materials needed.

Instructor Rick Gallion has been a professional woodworker for thirty years and has taught many students the craft of woodworking. His new shop is designed as a teaching facility. All classes will be held at the Clary Lake Woodworking School at 777 Gardiner Road (Hwy 126), Jefferson. Class size is limited. Safety glasses provided for each class.

Tai Chi for Balance Enhancement - Part 2

Pre-requisite: Tai Chi for Balance Enhancement – Part I

This class is a continuation of Tai Chi for Balance Enhancement. We will continue to build on the balance enhancement mini-form, and learn new gestures to add to our repertoire of Tai Chi and Qi Gong activities. As with Part I, we will learn techniques both sitting and standing, and will continue to reinforce the Principles of Tai Chi throughout our time together.

Tai Chi for Neck and Shoulder Care

Stress and poor posture can wreak havoc on our necks and shoulders, sometimes causing pain and dysfunction. In this introductory Tai Chi class, we will learn to enhance our posture and build fluid movement patterns all with the goal of adding ease to our daily lives. Throughout this course, you will learn to integrate the basic principles of Tai Chi – posture, breathing, slow movements and focused intentions – into specific movement patterns or “gestures”. Starting seated in a chair and moving to standing, we will begin to build a repertoire of movement patterns, all with an emphasis on improving posture and decreasing stress in our necks and shoulders.

These tools are used with the “Gradual Yes Method”—ten basic sales truths specifically for authors.

The Online Course requires that students complete the knowledge portion of the course online prior to attending the skills and exam sessions (2 classes). The online portion of the course takes approximately 7 hours to complete. Students complete quizzes and an exam as they do the online course and are provided with a voucher to attend the skills and exam sessions upon completion of the online exam.

In the skills and exam sessions students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, participate in activities, bring in a survival kit with appropriate contents and pass a 50 question test with a grade of at least 70%. Students must complete the online course and provide their voucher number to attend the skills and exam sessions. Students must also bring the voucher to the first class. Woodworking Unplugged

This class is for beginning and more advanced woodworkers. We will build a small, useful piece of furniture using only hand tools. You will learn basic joinery and use hand saws, hand planes, marking knives, chisels and scrapers. On completion you will have a project to take home and brag about. All tools provided. There will be a $20 materials fee payable to the instructor.

This course is crafted for novelists and memoirists who struggle to overcome hurdles and blocks on the road to completion. We will work to enhance detail, character, and place for a solid draft and create a project plan to get to the finish line. The class includes but is not limited to the review process, editing, readers, and submission. Get the tools to bring your book to fruition.

Lee Heffner began working with creatives in 1995 andtransitioned into writing in 1998. She specializes in one-on-one coaching sessions to help individual writers overcome creative hurdles and wrote her book, “Write to Finish”, to support that work.
