Beginning Belly Dance

If you have a joy of movement, this dance is for you – come celebrate! Belly Dance, also known as Oriental Dance, is the dance native to the ancient Middle East. Widely spread and integrated by the migrating Rom peoples from India to Spain, it is now commonly practiced world wide. The class will introduce the signature torso movements and rhythms of this dance art, which provide gentle and strengthening full-body exercise, with an emphasis on the belly and thighs. Students will accomplish a simple choreography during the session. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing or dancewear and bring a large scarf for the hips.

Patti Luchetti has studied and performed Oriental Dance for 25 years in Maine, NYC and abroad.

 

Dance Flow Hooping; Intermediate Level

Hooping benefits the mind, body and soul! Hoop dance flow is an intermediate class that will add flare and grace to your hooping. We will work on tricks and transitions, as well as entry and exit methods to create your own kind of flow. This class will move with music and choreography to keep you hooping all night long! Come have fun and discover a whole new you! Hoops are provided with the option to buy!

New England based hooper Nikki Hunt has been hooping for 11 years and teaching hoop dance for the past six years. As lead singer/hooper of The Nikki Hunt Band for the past 8 years, Nikki has performed all over New England at various events ranging from Cirque du Soliel to Kidabaloo.

 

Nia: Mindful Dance Fitness - Session 1

Nia is an energizing barefoot cardio workout that empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, and soul. Through Nia, you can discover, explore, and enhance your potential to live a healthy and meaningful life by engaging your senses and listening to your body.

Each workout combines martial arts, dance, and mindful movement to leave you energized, mentally clear, and emotionally balanced. Nia is non-impact and adaptable to individual needs and abilities.

Each class starts with setting a focus. We will then step into class, warm up, dance our hearts out, and cool down, ending class with movement on the floor, followed by meditation, and stepping back out into daily life.

Anna Fiedler is a certified Nia blue belt teacher who has taught Nia since 2007. Through Nia, she experiences release and relaxation, combined with increased energy and playfulness. Anna sees teaching Nia as an incredible gift as she helps create space for others to tap into their own power and enhance their Joy of life through movement.

Shake it Up Ballroom - Spring Tune Up

Need to brush up on your dance moves for an upcoming event or just for fun? This is the class for you. The Tune-Up is intended for those with some beginner dance experience who would like to learn a new step or two to add to their repertoire and to practice what they already know. Join us for four weeks of fun on the dance floor.

A former classroom teacher, Megan Dinsmore now applies her teaching skills to dance. She hopes her passion will inspire students to enjoy the music, the exercise and the joy of dance...maybe you will be on the next “Dancing With The Stars!

Have you ever wanted to learn to waltz, tango, or bachata but were too shy to try? Don’t be! Come join the fun and learn the basics of these dances and more. We will cover the basics of five or six dances so that you will have the confidence to get out on that dance floor and rock it! No street shoes, please! Bring shoes to change into.
