Proper Movement, Proper Alignment: Introduction to Japanese Movement Therapy and Structural Acupuncture

$24

with Tobey Williamson

Calendar Nov 6, 2018 at 6:30 pm

Sotai Ho is a movement therapy that uses simple movements and breath work to release muscular restrictions and bring the body back into alignment with its natural gravitational center. It was developed in Japan in the 1950’s by Dr. Keizo Hashimoto, M.D So means “to manipulate,” tai means “body,” and ho means “method.” You can heal yourself with Sotai Ho. Dr. Hashimoto found the easiest way to release restrictions in our soft tissue was to listen to the body’s own wisdom to avoid pain and move into the direction of ease. Movements and stretching seek to emulate our animal friends – stretching like a dog or cat might, looking for ways to move that make our body FEEL GOOD! And when this movement is coordinated with our breath, the body quickly adjusts and falls back into its natural aligned state. In this introductory class, we will work together to find the specific Sotai movements you can do at home. These exercises can help break old patterns and keep you in your body’s natural gravitational center.
