Come learn some recipes from paradise. We’ll taste Hawaiian smoked salmon poke, a uniquely Hawaiian comfort food recipe called Loco Moco, and classic island BBQ called Guri Guri. Bring an empty stomach and empty containers for possible leftovers

ATV & Snowmobile Safety

Participation in an ATV education course will teach you how to properly operate and maintain an ATV. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will also be covered. Passage of a final exam is required. You must attend every day of the class in order to receive your certificate. Participation in a snowmobile education course will teach you how to properly operate and maintain a snowmobile. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will also be covered. Babysitters Training Course

Learn the skills and techniques necessary to be a responsible, competent and fun babysitter in a one-day class. This course will cover such topics as: child care essentials, the proper response and handling of emergency situations, behavior management, safety for the sitter, and babysitting as a business. Students should bring a lunch and a snack. Please do not bring any electronics or phones. For students ages 11-14. A certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course. Register EARLY – this class fills up quickly! Please note: November 12 is Veterans Day and a no school day for students.

Creative Writing Workshop - Session 3

This ongoing workshop offers participants an opportunity to get the creative juices flowing, overcome the internal critic, and let heart and soul flow out onto the page! Just as importantly, it also provides a tight knit, supportive community of fellow writers with whom to share the fruits of your labor. The instructor, Elizabeth Potter, will present proven writing prompts and techniques to tickle your muse and coax even the most hesitant voice onto the page. Elizabeth Potter is a teacher and poet residing in midcoast Maine. Her new collection of poetry “T’ai Chi of Leaves” was released by Moon Pie press in September 2016. Her poems have also been widely published in literary journals both locally and nationally. Elizabeth has been leading creative writing workshops for all ages for the past seventeen years.

Darling Needle Felted Animals

ipant will make one or more cozy soft small mammals or birds of their choice out of wool and use the needle felting method to create the features of their new friend. In the past, popular choices were bears, penguins and ducks. A material fee of $10 (included in the cost) covers all wool and armature materials, plus one felting needle. You may create a treasured gift or something to keep for yourself. No experience required! Bring your glasses if you wear them for close vision. Young people aged 12 and up may attend with an adult. Class size is limited. Debra Arter holds a MA in Fine Art and has been teaching adults various art processes for many years. She has worked on her needle felting projects even while on an airplane!

Exploring the Natural History of Lincoln County

This is a basic, exploratory course designed to help you feel both aware and knowledgeable about the natural history and features of the Lincoln County area. The course assumes that the student has no or minimal knowledge of natural history and our local area, but desires to appreciate the natural and human heritage of our region. Beginning with water and stone, and continuing through plants, animals and humans, students will learn how to find, identify, and enjoy the significance of our immediate area. Stan L. LeQuire, a lifelong nature guide and teacher, will lead the course. Stan L. LeQuire is a life-long naturalist. He enjoys teaching sustainable development to college students. In addition, he researches best practices of community-based ecotourism as a model for development.
